Senior Officials' MeetingThe Senior Officials´ Meeting (SOM) has a very important role in formulating directions of FEALAC Cooperation and making recommendation for the Foreign Ministerial Meeting. SOM I (Singapore, 1-3 September 1999). SOM I is a constitutive meeting which issued the draft of FEALAC Framework Document. Singapore and Chile were appointed to become the first Regional Coordinators (1999-2001); SOM II (Santiago, August 2000). SOM II appointed Colombia and Philippines as Deputy Regional Coordinators; SOM III (Santiago, Maret2001). SOM III decided “FEALAC” as the official name of the forum; SOM IV (Bogotá, November 2002). SOM IV noted the intentions of a number of Latin American countries to join FEALAC. SOM V (San José, August 2003). SOM V recommended the approval of Nicaragua and Guatemala on the FMM II and appointed Brazil and South Korea as Regional Coordinators; SOM VI (Manila, January 2004). SOM VI drafted the FMM II agenda and recommended the issue of human security and elimination of agricultural subsidies to be discussed on the FMM II; SOM VII (Seoul, October 2006). SOM VII approved Brazil as the host of FMM III and appointed Argentina and Japan as Deputy Regional Coordinators. SOM VII noted the intention of the Dominican Republic to join FEALAC. SOM VIII (Brasília, 20-21 August 2007). SOM VIII recommended Guyana, Haiti and Suriname as member candidate of FEALAC; SOM IX (Buenos Aires, 7-8 April 2009). SOM IX recommended Honduras and Mongolia to become the new members of FEALAC; SOM X (Tokyo, 14-15 January 2010). SOM X approved Mongolia as the new member of FEALAC, and appointed Indonesia and Argentina as Regional Coordinators. SOM X noted the intention of Suriname to join FEALAC. |
